How to uninstall Ambifold

Removing Ambifold never touches your synced files: they stay in your folders and in your Google Drive. These steps remove the app and everything it stored.

Last updated:

1. Quit Ambifold

Click the tray icon and choose Quit. Ambifold stops a sync that is running safely, then quits.

2. Remove the package

sudo apt purge ambifold

This removes the app and its menu entry, and Ambifold's APT repository and signing key from your software sources.

3. Remove what Ambifold stored in your home folder

The package can't remove what Ambifold keeps in your home folder: its settings and Google sign-in tokens, its logs, sync records and backups, and the entry that starts it at login.

Check the backups first

The backup folder, ~/.local/state/ambifold/backups/, holds the copies of files that syncs deleted or replaced on your computer in the last 30 days. Copy out anything you still need: the commands below delete it.

rm -rf ~/.config/ambifold ~/.local/state/ambifold
rm -f ~/.config/autostart/ambifold.desktop

If other user accounts on the computer used Ambifold, do this in each of them.

4. Remove Ambifold's access to your Google account

Open Third-party apps and services in your Google Account, find the app (it has the name you gave your Google client, usually Ambifold) and remove its access. Do this for each Google account you connected.

5. Delete your Google Cloud project (optional)

The free edition signed in through a client in a Google Cloud project that you created. If you don't use that project for anything else, open the project settings in the Google Cloud console, select the project and choose Shut down. Google deletes it after 30 days.
