Turn Ambifold updates back on

Upgrading to a new release of Linux Mint or Ubuntu, for example from Mint 22 to Mint 23, switches off software sources from outside the distribution, and Ambifold's is one of them. Ambifold keeps working, but gets no updates until you switch its source back on.

Ambifold's repository is the same for every release of Linux Mint and Ubuntu, so you can switch it back on right after the upgrade.

Linux Mint

  1. Open Software Sources from the menu and enter your password.
  2. Go to Additional repositories, find Ambifold (apt.ambifold.com) and switch it on.
  3. Let it update the cache when it asks, then open Update Manager.

If Ambifold is not in the list, use the terminal steps below.

Ubuntu

  1. Open Software & Updates and go to the Other Software tab.
  2. Tick the entry for Ambifold (apt.ambifold.com), close the window and let it reload the software information.
  3. Install the updates with Software Updater.

In a terminal

sudo sed -i 's/^Enabled: *no/Enabled: yes/I' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ambifold.sources
sudo apt update

To check, run apt policy ambifold: it should list https://apt.ambifold.com. Then install the update with Update Manager, or with sudo apt install ambifold.

If the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ambifold.sources doesn't exist, write to support@ambifold.com, and we will help.

“The repository is not signed”

If Update Manager, or sudo apt update, reports that Ambifold's repository is not signed, or names a missing key (NO_PUBKEY), your computer has an old copy of Ambifold's signing key. That happens when we changed keys while it was getting no updates, for example while its source was switched off after a system upgrade. Updates of the rest of your system are not affected.

  1. Open the personal link from your invite email and download the current .deb file.
  2. Open the file and install it, the same way as the first time. It brings the current key with it.
  3. Open Update Manager again: Ambifold's updates arrive as before. Your settings and folders are kept.
